Just how sensitive and loud should these things be? Sensitive enough to detect the feather-light touch of a careful burglar and loud enough to reach the owner's ears 20 miles away it seems. Although "the intensity of noise diminishes with distance" the irritation surely increases with time. If the alarm sensitivity can be adjusted at all (see comment), it might prevent passing cars and barking dogs restarting the blaring sirens.

False Alarm nuisence prevention basically means, if your car alarm false alarms (goes off or sounds the siren for no reason) then the alarm will actually shut the circuit off that is causing the false alarms ie; sensor too sensitve. This is to prevent the car alarm sounding all day and causing a nuisence to the neighbourhood or possibly flattening your car battery if your car is left at a train station carpark while your at work. Also it is now an offence and you can be fined for causing "undue noise" as stated by the EPA under the Noise Pollution Act.
